Pasties in vogue?

November 4, 2010

This is news that I received on Twitter from the brilliant fashion news reporter for UK’s reputable news source the Telegraph, Hilary Alexander.

In the December issue of British Vogue, you may be taken aback by a photo spread featuring Dutch model Lara Stone (IMG Models), where she is modeling a gold ruffled bolera (by Tour de Force) over a pair of pasties covering her breasts. As Hilary proclaims, these silver stick-on stars may have been inspired by the notorious Lindsay Lohan, who designed a collection for the Emanuel Ungaro fashion house back in the Spring and received overall horrible reviews from fashion industry experts.

Not exactly Ready to Wear

In comparison to Lindsay’s fashion debut designs, these nipple coverings are rather glamorous; made up of sparkly jewels, which glimmer like swarovsky crystals. J. Maskrey is the creator of these body gems, which retail for £150 a set (that’s steep).

Maskrey has created other such “body jewelery”, which were seen during London fashion week last February:

I doubt that this look will catch on with guys, especially at Syracuse

Rather impressive for stick ons

Less painful than tattoos

Unfortunately, we will have to wait a few more weeks before we could get our hands on the new British Vogue and judge the shoot for ourselves. According to Hilary, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell are featured in the same story; except they are fully exposed. I suppose they ran out of pasties (or maybe Lil’ Kim stole them).
