Scarves, Scarves, Scarves Galore

October 17, 2010

If you want to change up your look; update a simple outfit; add more personality, scarves are the perfect solution. The women in Paris are experts at jazzing up their look with this simple neck accessory. One fashionista that understands the power of a scarf is SU almum, Jamie Futterman. She has created her own line: Just Jamie, which I highly recommend. From infinity scarves in pastel colors (great for Spring) to intricately woven colorful bohemian inspired creations, she has every style of scarves that you may want. What I love most is that she gets inspired by celebrities, art, international cultures, and New Yorkers (her current residence).

Yesterday, I attended Jamie’s scarf party, where she displayed her newest pieces. I was surprised by her enormous collection of colorful, well crafted scarves. Even more, I was enamored with the talented designer’s immense enthusiasm, hospitality, and energy. She is certainly a girl, who will make it far in the fashion industry. With her own signifiture style, leather jacket, rockstar boots, leggings, square rimmed glasses, and long, wavy hair, she makes quite an impression. Her party was a hit with masses of girls coming over to the apartment on Comstock Avenue to check out this chic girl’s line. I even had the chance to try on a few of my fave scarves.

Jamie also has a full line of men; Hakim Griffin, creator of Griffin Productions and CEO of Empire Life, the official campus lifestyle guide, even approved, giving her men’s line a thumbs up. It’s unique that Jamie caters to men as well; not many designers in this age feature designs for both sexes. Many of Just Jamie products are unisex, making it easy to share with your boyfriend!

I adore Jamie: an innovative designer, a rockstar, and the queen of scarves. Check out her line at, and see what she’s all about. You can also keep up with her through her blog, where she keeps you updated on her travel adventures, daily trials and tribulations, and fashion advice. Keep your eyes open for Ms. Futterman; she’ll be making some big moves.
