Shoes for your man

October 4, 2010

Often times girls may think that guys don’t think twice about what they wear. But much to contrary assumption, our boyfriends often do think (for at least 2 minutes) about what they’ll put on in the morning.

Take a look at Men’s magazines like GQ, Esquire, and Maxim (yes, the magazine shows more than semi-nude girls). You’ll see page after page of advice for men regarding their wardrobes, grooming tools, and accessories.

Many guys take cues from the fashion leaders–those metrosexuals we all know and love. Not sure if your guy is a metrosexual? Here are some cues, courtesy of Urban Dictionary:

  • He  owns over 20 pairs of shoes, half a dozen pairs of sunglasses, just as many watches, and carries a man-purse.
  • He can only wear Calvin Klein boxer-briefs.
  • He shaves more than just his face. He also exfoliates and moisturizes.
  • He can’t imagine a day without hair styling products.

If you’re not convinced that men care about what they look like, watch your guy getting ready in the morning and pay attention to how long he checks himself out in the bathroom mirror.

On that note, I spotted some fantastic shoes yesterday worn by a very fashionable male, Calvin Iverson (SU class of 2012).

Tilmon Sneaker $70 at Aldo

He definitely rocked them with cuffed skinny jeans and a maroon cardigan. I love the triple buckles and biker/urban look. These bad boys are available at Aldo, where other trendy and affordable men’s shoes can be found:

Mccoggle Shoe in Navy $75

The Mccoggle, a high-top sneaker, is great to wear with slim/straight cut gray jeans. They can jazz up any casual outfit.

Hilgert Shoe in Brown $80

The Hilgert is a classy take on the much loved Tim. This edgy sneaker will look sharp with blue denim, cargo pants, or corduroys.

Grignon Boot $150

The Grignon is one bad-ass military inspired leather boot. Great for treading through Syracuse snow and winning major style points.

The best thing about all of these shoes is their versatility: transitioning well from day to night. Your man will  stand out in his Psych class and be a rock star when you’re out with him at the bars (just make sure you can handle all those other chicas eying your well-dressed man!).
