SU Bookstore: your next fashion fix destination?

September 30, 2010

The Syracuse University Bookstore at Schine is changing in big ways. First it started carrying premium dorm products from Bed Bath and Beyond, next it upscaled its university apparel, then it introduced vegan treats in the food mart…and now its displaying products from boutiques nationwide.

I was stunned this morning as I walked into the bookstore to get my pack of Orbit gum (did I mention I’m a terrible gum-a-holic), I was stopped in my tracks by a display of clothing racks abundantly filled with cute jackets, fall shift dresses, and silky blouses. Even more impressive was a neatly stacked jean counter with premium denim from brands like True Religion, Seven for All Mankind, Hudson, Citizens of Humanity, and Joe’s.

Around 3pm, the area was crowded by curious girls, who expressed as much excitement as me by the visiting boutique based out of Roanoke, VA: 310 Rosemont. Several girls grabbed Michael Stars Ts while another fished around for a pair of dark skinny jeans in her size. Others purveyed the jewelry display that featured enamel bangles, statement rings, and embellished costume jewelry.

Here are some of the pretty, fall appropriate things that I found:

Charcoal Ruffle Bomber Jacket by Tulle $75

Black Cowl Neck Wool Dress by Theme $64

Byzantine Embroidered Olive Dress by Theme $64

The best part about shopping 310 Rosemont at the SU Bookstore is that you don’t have to worry about paying with your credit card–just do what you do with everything else…use your student charge 🙂

So take a break from your busy class day and stop by Schine before Saturday (when the lovely ladies from Virginia leave) and treat yourself to a little shopping therapy.
